Seals often bask on the rocks off Ölands southern point. Largest and most common is the Grey Seal, but you can also see Harbour Seals.
Harbour seals have a pushed-in, button nose while grey seals have a long, pointed snout.

Seals can dive to a depth of several hundred meters and stay submerged for 20-25 minutes. During this period the heart rate is greatly reduced and only the nervous system receives its normal blood supply.
The diet of seals primarily consists of fish. They can reach an age of 25-50 years.
